Leona G. Green
1918-2010
GREEN; Mrs. Leona Genelva Green of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island, NB.
passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital Monday July 12, 2010
with her loving family by her side. Born on August 22, 1918 at
Wilson’s Beach Campobello she was the daughter of the late
Philmore and Winifred (Brown) Chute. Leona worked for 33 years for
Connors Bros. as a sardine packer on the processing line in
Wilson’s Beach Campobello, Blacks Harbour, and at Seal Cove.
After working at the sardine factory she owned and operated a local
variety store in Seal Cove where she made her life loving and caring
for her family with her husband Judson of 68 years by her side. She
was a faithful member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church and helped with
the Sunday School and Choir for many years. Survived by her husband
Mr. Judson A. Green; four daughters Rose Marie Dakin of Grand Harbour,
Betty Jean Greene of Ingalls Head, Amanda (Richard) Lively of
Peticodiac, and Donna (Allison) Tatton of St. Andrews. One son Leroy
(Danita) Markee of Woodwards Cove, and one sister Madeline (Walter)
Avery of North Head. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 8 great
grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and will be forever
remembered in everyone’s heart who were fortunate to know her.
Predeceased by her sister Glynes Foster, and two brothers Marsden and
Woodrow Chute.
Visiting hours will be held from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on
Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from
the church on Thursday July 15, 2010 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ward
McComisky officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
Leona’s family has requested that donations may be made to the
NB Heart & Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements are in the care
of ELLS FUNERAL HOME INC. 1199 Route #776, Grand Manan, N.B.
