Matilda “Tillie” INGERSOLL

1909-2008

INGERSOLL: Matilda “Tillie”, 99, formerly of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island NB died peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Quarry Hill Community Center in Camden, Maine. She was born in Gulfport, Mississippi February 25, 1909 the daughter of the late Ida A. Swendsen and Charles Otto Swendsen. Tillie loved cooking, dancing and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a loving mother and will be remembered for her quick wit. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, James C. Black, USCG, and her second husband, Gordon Ingersoll, a daughter, Patricia Beaner, a brother, Charles Franklin and two grandchildren, Andrew and Susan. Survivors include her daughter, Dolores F. Knight of Montville, a son, James C. Black of Murietta, CA, nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

There was no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Grand Harbour, and Grand Manan N.B. on Thursday September 18th 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Capt. Dana Dean officiating. Intermit will follow at the Hill Side Cemetery. Memorial Service arrangements are in the care of ELLS FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Route #776, Grand Manan, N.B. E5G 1G2.
