Ellen Nora Harvey

HARVEY; ELLEN NORA (100) formally of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Wednesday June 3, 2009. Born in North Head she was the third child of Lowell and Jessie (Beal) Brown. Ellen was and avid knitter and loved to do crafts. She was one of the founding members of the Helping Hands Ladies Group. She was a Past Chief and District Deputy with the Pythian Sisters Southern Cross Lodge, #16, Grand Manan. She is survived by one daughter, Alice Harvey and her husband Francis of Smiths Falls, Ontario, one grandson Robert Harvey and his wife Helen of Burlington, Ontario. Great grandchildren Lauren and Alexander Harvey of Burlington, Ontario, one sister Faye (Eric) Lucas of North Head as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Harvey, granddaughter Christine Gail Harvey, brothers Floyd (Grace) Brown, Everett Brown, Lowell (Leitha) Brown, Herman (Edith) Brown, sisters Clara (Earl) Worthen, and Doris (Winthrop) Moses.

Visiting hours will be held from Ells Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the North Head Wesleyan Church on Saturday June 6, 2009 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Charles Bain officiating. There will be a reception immediately following the service and all are welcome to attend. The interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery. The family has requested memorial donations may be made to the Maple Grove Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
